HAIR METROLOGY

We do not buy hair from suspect sources of smuggling; we always certify that the hair was donated voluntarily and no damage or trauma was caused to the person who donates it. In addition, all the purchased hair goes through a quality control process before being used in tests.

In this area, invasive and/or non-invasive methods of physicochemical measurements of the mechanical and structural properties of the hair fiber are developed in a way to transform in numbers that which the consumer feels when using a hair product. In addition, we work with alternative ways of translating our numbers to real images of that which the consumer will feel or perceive upon using the product(s).

  • To maintain a quality standard in any area of evaluation and efficacy proving, the body of proof (in our case, hair swatches) needs to present the least variability as possible.

  • The hair, even if collected from the same head, may present, most of the times, completely different behavior from each other. In Brazil, this difference is even larger due to the multiplicity of ethnics present and of the miscegenation throughout the course of our history.

  • To overcome this problem, we, from Allergisa, maintain a strict quality control of swatches that assure the reliability of our results.

Fiber integrity: where the physical parameters of mechanical resistance, thermal degradation and harm against external factors are analyzed.

Image analysis: in which the micro and macro visual parameters of the hair and hair fiber are analyzed in a way of inferring how the fiber behaves after the products application and under the external effects of superficial structural modifications.

Research and Development: in which new methodologies of evaluation are studied and developed to prove the efficacy and/or knowledge of products directed to the reality of the consumers, translating into numbers what is usually perceived by them.

Our scale is divided into numbers instead of words like “straight, wavy, kinky”. This is because what is straight or wavy to someone, may not be the same to someone else. Thus, when saying “Hair Type I”, we can guarantee we are talking about the curvature interval in which this type of hair fits, whether it is straight, slightly wavy or even wavy.

All the swatches are bought virgin, that is, without having suffered any chemical treatment or very strong external harm that damages the fiber. Which is a assured with an integrity test of the fiber, in which we certify the degree of damage suffered by the hair. And, if it overcomes the limit established, this hair is given back to its supplier.
